Highlight: Cruiser DemonstrationCheck in at Silverline Cruisers where you will be greeted by staff who will give you a full demonstration on how to drive the boat, "rules of the river", use of all facilities on board and also advise on best places to wine and dine during your trip on the Shannon. Cook for your self on board or enjoy a nice meal and a couple of pints in the lively town of Banagher just a five minute stroll from your boat.
Highlight: Golf in PortumnaCruise two hours down river and take-in the tranquil beauty of the river. Have some lunch before golfing at Portumna Golf Club which is truly a hidden gem. Set in mature parkland, a stones throw from the river, the golf course is highly acclaimed by all who visit. Local wildlife is often visible with deer being spotted on the course on a daily basis. The golf course meanders through impressive mature woodland with the seventeenth hole widely regarded as one of the best par fives in Ireland. The club has hosted many Elite amateur events on a National and International basis and is a must play for anybody visiting this region.
Highlight: Golf in BirrCruise two hours up river to Banagher. Maybe do some fishing along the way. Transfer in the afternoon to Birr Golf Club, another fine old parkland golf course set in Mature Woodland. The back nine will challenge the best of golfers however is still very playable for beginners right through to elite amateurs. The tenth, eleventh and twelfth holes are fantastic set in picturesque woodland. Moor for the night in Banagher and enjoy the craic at local hostelry's.
Highlight: Golf in Athlone GCCruise two and half hours up river to Hudson Bay, on the shores of Lough Ree. Maybe do some fishing along the way. Athlone Golf Club is a two minute walk from the mooring in Hudson Bay and has played host to Irish Amateur Championships. It is a very stiff challenge of the tips but a variety of tees make it playable for all levels. Lough Ree is in view throughout the course and the Sixteenth is regarded as the courses signature hole. An exceptionally good golf course by any standard Moor for the night in Hudson Bay or the town of Athlone host to many fine restaurants and pubs .
Highlight: Golf in GlassonCruise just half an hour across Lough Ree. Moor and the resort decking and play on the Championship course on the shore of the lake. A European Tour venue in 2007, Glasson oozes class and is worthy of all the accolades it has received. This Christy O'Conner Jnr design is set in a most idyllic location and ranks up there with the best park land layouts in Ireland. Moor at the Resorts Marina, or maybe treat yourself to a nights pampering with a Hotel Stay and/or spa treatment at the luxurious Glasson Resort Hotel.
Highlight: Golf in Esker HillsCruise an hour and half south to Shannon Bridge and transfer to Esker Hills Golf Club, home of European Tour Star Shane Lowry. Another masterpiece of the late great Christy O'Connor he described it thus: Designing Esker Hills gave me enormous satisfaction, plotting the course through nature's own sand-hills and valleys. Esker Hills is the only inland links type course I know of, which makes golf a pleasure all year round. Visit Locks Distillery in Kilbeggan for some whiskey tasting on the return journey to Shannon Bridge
Highlight: Cruise to Banagher. Golf Tullamore or BirrCruise for fort five minutes south to Banagher. Golf is optional today. Transfer to beautiful old parkland in Tullamore. Consistently one of the best presented course in the country and host to several amateur championships, Tullamore is a thirty minute transfer form Banagher. Alternatively re-visit the Glenns of Birr Golf Club just a ten minute transfer away. If you are all golfed out maybe spend the day fishing on the river before enjoying the craic in Banagher's restaurants and pubs in the evening
